The Heavenlee Howl Of The New Moon

The Wabash Valley of Indiana cordially invites everyone within the path of totality during the Total Solar Eclipse of 2024, from Mexico, across America and into Canada, to participate in a celebration of the lives of our children and grandchildren who have passed beyond the veil and joined with Heaven by becoming a part of The Heavenlee Howl Of The New Moon.
In times past, Mankind has marveled at the beauty of the heavens and has often found voice in their admiration by howling at the full moon.     Like the wolves of Mother Nature, who often howl at the full moon as a celebration of their wolfness, people across time and distance have chosen to celebrate their connection with the heavens by giving voice to their feelings of joy, worship and even sadness and sending it skyward towards our celestial neighbor Luna, or the moon, as it commonly known.
On April 8th, 2024, the moon will pass in front of the sun, causing a shadow to pass across the surface of the earth. For those within the path of the moon's shadow, or Luna Umbra, (as it is known in Latin), it can be a life-changing experience.
It is also a time, when the moon is directly in front of the sun, that the moon will be in its New Moon phase. Normally, the moon cannot be seen during the New Moon phase, but during a total solar eclipse, the New Moon can be seen, although the human eye can only percieve it as a black disc.
Now, the Wabash Valley of Indiana invites everyone along the path of the moon's shadow to participate in The Heavenlee Howl Of The New Moon by remembering a beloved child or grandchild who has passed away far sooner than they were meant to by turning your gaze skyward during totality.
At this time of darkness, we encourage you to howl in memory of that child, and for all children who have left us too soon. Celebrate the Love you still feel for them with a long and vigorous howl. Pierce the darkness with your voice and summon the light with your howl. Gather your friends together and share your howl with them, or even total strangers and encourage all to join with you in the howling.
This is a singular time to celebrate the memories of our beloved children and grandchildren who are no longer with us. We won't get another opportunity like this for nearly four hundred years, so don't let the Luna Umbra pass you by in silence. Let your Love howl across the skies so that our loved ones in Heaven can hear us.

Currently...

I attended the monthly Crackerbarrel session at the Vigo County Public Library this morning to get a sense of where things stand with our push towards getting Heavenlee's law into a committee hearing.

Alas, things are pretty much at a standstill for this legislative year, but both Rep. Jon Ford and Senator Tonya Pfaff assure me that they intend to get things on track for next year's legislative session.

We always knew these things would take time, but after 9 years, I wish things would go our way just once. Nonetheless, next month is the last Crackerbarrel session for this year. I plan to deliver a statement regarding the current state of things. I will provide a video of this statement when the time comes.

Once More Unto The Breach...

As you can see, it's been a few years since my last posting. It was necessary to take a break from the work after a particularly nasty encounter with Rep. Soliday, who apparently enjoys playing politics with the lives of Hoosier children.

Anyways, I had a very good meeting with Tonya Pfaff, a newly elected Indiana House Representative who is very supportive of our cause. Although she is a Democrat, I feel good about her prospects, but Time will tell.

I also had a very good meeting with Jon Ford, Indiana State Senator and someone who has demonstrated a willingness and ability to get good child safety issue legislation through the process. I felt really good after our meeting, though experience has shown me to be cautious. Still though, I feel good about Mr. Ford's understanding of our cause and what we are looking for. Once again, Time will tell.

Happy 10th birthday, Heavenlee!

Today would have been our granddaughter; Heavenlee Angel Skie's 10th birthday. Sadly, we were deprived of her beautiful smile because of neglect resulting from an accident. She passed away 2 years ago this Thanksgiving. We struggle daily as the pain still lingers. We will never forget her or how much we loved her. I still struggle to fulfill a promise I made to her on Christmas Day, 2009, shortly after the accident that left her paralyzed. Sadly, the Indiana General Assembly, led by the Indiana House Republicans and the Indiana Senate GOP have chosen to place the life of a dog in higher regard than that of a Hoosier child. Wanna learn more about what I speak of? Then check out:

Happy Birthday Heavenlee!

It's been a while since our last post due to the ebb and tide of how working against a moronic Indiana General Assembly flows. Looking at the calender, we were stunned to realize how quickly a year has passed since Heavenlee's passing. That day is tomorrow, but today was Heavenlee's birthday.

She would have been 9 years old today were it not for the neglect demonstrated by those who were entrusted to insure her safety. They failed and she suffered for 4 years before succumbing to the effects of her injuries.

We think of her every day and hope to insure that someday, justice will prevail on her behalf.

We love you Heavenlee and we shall never forget!

How does Rep. Soliday and Sen. Young sleep at night?

Despite efforts we have made to encourage legislators to take a look at our efforts to protect children from neglect in automobiles, we have been met with silence and ignorance!

Apparently, our lawmakers here in Indiana have some strange agenda which precludes protecting chidren lives. In particular, we're speaking of Rep. Ed Soliday and Sen. R. Michael Young, both of whom have the power to assign our bills into committee hearings, yet refuse to do so.

In case you're wondering what we are talking about, here are the links to the two bills we are supporting, niether of which has even made it into committe hearings, despite 3 years of trying.

SB151

HB1095

It makes one wonder what Rep. Ed Soliday and Sen. R. Michael Young have against children? Would they prefer that people who fail to secure children in the proper child safety seat, then injure or kill those very children in a car crash are only charged $25.00 for the crime? As it stands now, that's how Indiana law treats neglect within the automobile.

Perhaps if it were their own child, or even grandchild, they might be more inclined to act on behalf of protecting children. Since it is not their own families, they have choosen to ignore our efforts and continue to place the lives of Hoosier children in peril.

How do they sleep at night?

Children's Lives Are Still At Risk!

So Representative Soliday, I’ll bet you thought I went away, didn’t you? Sadly, your lack of action demands I return to the fray and point out what a coward you are.

I thought I should re-examine your last email and sort through the nonsense for something a little less nonsensical regarding your refusal to even consider HB1095 and its ramifications. The following is another example of your odd perspective regarding the lives of children.
“Because HB 1095 changes the sentencing of this type of offense, it would be inconsistent to pass a bill of this nature.”
How does drafting legislation that serves to strengthen and upgrade sentencing when children’s lives are injured or even killed through neglect in an automobile constitute “inconsistent”?
Does that not disturb you as much as it disturbs me?
Your failure to act on behalf of HB1095 and give it a fair hearing calls into question your integrity and service to Indiana, in my own opinion, not that it matters much to you…
